Overview

The expansion allows players to take the role of the ruthless privateer, a seafarer who is motivated solely by a thirst for fortune and holds allegiances only to those who will pay for his services.

Players operate their own fleets commanded by merchant or privateer captains. Having limited time at their disposal, players aim to accumulate as much wealth as possible by any means they can. Privateer is also more mission oriented compared to the original game since a player without allegiances is free to engage in missions like smuggling, blockading ports and hunting down ships with diplomatic envoys.

• Two Privateer campaigns for different time periods.
• New mission oriented gameplay and loads of new missions, including locating and either sinking or capturing enemy ships, blockading enemy ports and escorting friendly fleets.
• New commander skills to fit the life of a privateer, such as ‘False Colors’, which allows the player to get close to the victim without them perceiving a threat, and ‘Critical Hit’, which gives the player a chance to hit an enemy ship’s magazine, causing the enemy ship to explode. Two new multiplayer modes: Breakthrough and Beehive.Introducing new specialists characters like surgeon, cook, constable and marine officer to boost the abilities of your fleets.
